The President and Small Business

The President is now on another spending binge designed, he says, to help small business. This president and the democratic congressional leadership have never run a business. I have been a small businessman virtually all of my life. All we want is for the government to get out of the way and let us keep enough of the money we earn to reinvest it in our business.
It is incredible to me the number of people, of all socio-economic and educational levels, that will buy this perverse logic. We will help you by taking your money and then give part of it back to you so long as you do what we want you to do. Why not leave the money with us in the first place.
There were many years when I wanted to expand my business but I couldn't because I had to pay taxes on profits that in reality I didn't have in cash. Working capital increases as the revenue of a business increases and this requires more money be left in the company to sustain growth. Yet our tax system requires that we pay tax on this money even though we have not had use of it personally at all.
